ITASCA, Ill., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSE: AJG) today announces that, on behalf of its employees, it has issued a check for nearly $500,000 to the American Red Cross earmarked for Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief. Gallagher set up a special relief fund through its Matching Gift Program to match, dollar-for-dollar, employee Red Cross contributions of between $5 and $1,000 received by the Foundation before the end of September. This special fund did not reduce the funds already available to all Gallagher employees during a calendar year through the Matching Gift Program.
"Gallagher employees have demonstrated their support of the many thousands of Gulf Coast residents impacted by the recent hurricanes in numerous ways, large and small. Through this special fund, we provided our employees with an opportunity to maximize their Red Cross contributions in this time of great need. Many of our own employees and clients were directly impacted by the hurricanes. I am very proud of our team's outstanding response to this special relief fund," said Chairman Robert E. Gallagher.
